1:1July one Thousand Eight hundred & Twenty Eight
1:2Given to Joseph the Seer after he had lost certan writings which he had Translated by the gift & Power of God
1:3Saying the words <works> of & designs & the Purposes of God cannot
3:1The works, and the designs, and the purposes of God cannot be frustrated, neither can they come to naught.
1:4be frustrated neither can they come to naught ground for God
1:5doth not wa[l] k in crooked Paths neither doth he turn to
1:6the right hand nor to the left neither doth vary from
1:7that which he hath said therefore his paths are strait & his
3:2For God doth not walk in crooked paths, neither doth he turn to the right hand nor to the left, neither doth he vary from that which he hath said, therefore his paths are straight, and his course is one eternal round.
1:8course is one eternal round Remember Remember that it
1:9is not the work of God that is frustrated but the works of
3:3Remember, remember that it is not the work of God that is frustrated, but the work of men;
1:1men for although a man may have many Revelations &
1:10have power to do many Mighty works yet if he boast in
1:11his own strength & Sets at naught the councils of God &
1:12follows after the dictates of his will & carnal desires he
1:13must fall to the Earth & incur the vengence of a Just God
3:4For although a man may have many revelations, and have power to do many mighty works, yet if he boasts in his own strength, and sets at naught the counsels of God, and follows after the dictates of his own will and carnal desires, he must fall and incur the vengeance of a just God upon him.
1:14upon him behold you have been intrusted with those
1:15things but strict was your commandment & Remember
3:5Behold, you have been entrusted with these things, but how strict were your commandments; and remember also the promises which were made to you, if you did not transgress them.
1:16also the Promises which were made to you if you transgressed them & behold how oft you have transgressed them
1:17Laws of God & have gone on in the Persuasions of men for
3:6And behold, how oft you have transgressed the commandments and the laws of God, and have gone on in the persuasions of men.
1:18behold you should not have feared men more then God although men set at naught the councils of God & dispise his
3:7For, behold, you should not have feared man more than God. Although men set at naught the counsels of God, and despise his words—
1:19words yet you should have been faithful & he would have
1:20extended his arm & supported you against all the firey darts
1:21of the advisary & he would have been with you in evry time
3:8Yet you should have been faithful; and he would have extended his arm and supported you against all the fiery darts of the adversary; and he would have been with you in every time of trouble.
1:22of trouble behold thou art Joseph & thou wast chosen to do
1:23the work of the Lord but because of transgression thou mayest
3:9Behold, thou art Joseph, and thou wast chosen to do the work of the Lord, but because of transgression, if thou art not aware thou wilt fall.
1:24fall but remember God is merciful therefore repent of
1:25that which thou hast done & he will only cause thee
1:26to be afflicted for a season & thou art still chosen &
1:27will & will again be called to the work & except
3:10But remember, God is merciful; therefore, repent of that which thou hast done which is contrary to the commandment which I gave you, and thou art still chosen, and art again called to the work;
2:1Thou do this thou shalt be delivered up & become as other
3:11Except thou do this, thou shalt be delivered up and become as other men, and have no more gift.
2:2men & have no more gift & when thou deliveredst up that
2:3Which that which God had given thee right to Translate
2:4thou deliveredest up that which was Sacred into the hands
3:12And when thou deliveredst up that which God had given thee sight and power to translate, thou deliveredst up that which was sacred into the hands of a wicked man,
2:5of a wicked man who has Set at naught the Councils of God
2:6& hath broken the most Sacred promises which was made before
2:7God & hath depended upon his own Judgement & boasted in
3:13Who has set at naught the counsels of God, and has broken the most sacred promises which were made before God, and has depended upon his own judgment and boasted in his own wisdom.
2:8his own arm wisdom & this is the reason that thou hast
3:14And this is the reason that thou hast lost thy privileges for a season—
2:9lost thy Privileges for a Season for thou hast suffered
2:10that the council of thy directors to be trampeled upon from
3:15For thou hast suffered the counsel of thy director to be trampled upon from the beginning.
2:11the begining for as the knowledge of a Saveiour hath come
3:16Nevertheless, my work shall go forth, for inasmuch as the knowledge of a Savior has come unto the world, through the testimony of the Jews, even so shall the knowledge of a Savior come unto my people—
2:12to the world so shall the knowledge of my People the Nephities
3:17And to the Nephites, and the Jacobites, and the Josephites, and the Zoramites, through the testimony of their fathers—
2:13& the Jacobites & the Josephites & the Lamanites come to the
2:14Lamanites knowledge of the Lamanites & the Lamanites &
2:15the Ishmaelites which dwindeled in unbelief because of
2:16the iniquities of their Fathers who hath been suffered to
2:17destroy their Brethren because of their iniquities & their
3:18And this testimony shall come to the knowledge of the Lamanites, and the Lemuelites, and the Ishmaelites, who dwindled in unbelief because of the iniquity of their fathers, whom the Lord has suffered to destroy their brethren the Nephites, because of their iniquities and their abominations.
2:18Abominations & for this very Purpose are these Plates
2:19prepared which contain these Records that the Promises
2:20of the Lord might be fulfilled which he made to his
3:19And for this very purpose are these plates preserved, which contain these records— that the promises of the Lord might be fulfilled, which he made to his people;
2:21People & that the Lamanites might come to the knowledge
2:22of their Fathers & that they may know the Promises of
2:23the Lord that they may believe the Gospel & rely upon the
2:24merits of Jesus Christ & that they might be glorified
2:25through faith in his name & that they might repent

3:20And that the Lamanites might come to the knowledge of their fathers, and that they might know the promises of the Lord, and that they may believe the gospel and rely upon the merits of Jesus Christ, and be glorified through faith in his name, and that through their repentance they might be saved. Amen.
