9:23And now i nephi do not give the genealogy of my fathers

9:24in this part of my record neither at any time <​s​> hall i give it

9:25After uppon these plates which i am writing for it

9:26is given in the record which has bee[n] kept by my father

6:1And now I, Nephi, do not give the genealogy of my fathers in this part of my record; neither at any time shall I give it after upon these plates which I am writing; for it is given in the record which has been kept by my father; wherefore, I do not write it in this work.

9:27Wherefore i do not write it in this work for it sofiseth[sufficeth]

6:2For it sufficeth me to say that we are descendants of Joseph.

9:28me to say that we are a desendant of joseph and it

9:29Mattereth not to me that i am particular to give a

9:30full account of all the things of my father for they

9:31can not be ritten uppon there <​these​> plates for i desire

6:3And it mattereth not to me that I am particular to give a full account of all the things of my father, for they cannot be written upon these plates, for I desire the room that I may write of the things of God.

9:32the room that i may[write] of the things of god for the fu

9:33lness of mine intent is that i may perswade men

9:34to come unto the god of abraham and the god of isaac

6:4For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved.

9:35And the god of jacob and be saved wherefore the

9:36things which are pleasing unto the world i do not

9:37Write but the things which are pleasing unto god

9:38And unto them which are not of the world wherefor i

6:5Wherefore, the things which are pleasing unto the world I do not write, but the things which are pleasing unto God and unto those who are not of the world.

9:39shall give commandment unto my seed that they

9:40shall not occupy these plate with things wth <​which​>

6:6Wherefore, I shall give commandment unto my seed, that they shall not occupy these plates with things which are not of worth unto the children of men.

9:41Are not of worth unto the children of men and now

9:42i wood that ye might know that after my father

9:43lehi had made an end of prophesying conserning

9:44his seed it came to pass that the lord spake unto him

9:45Again that it was not meet for him lehi that he

9:46should take his fammaly into the wilderness alone

9:47but that his sons should take daughters to wife that

9:48Might rais up seed unto the lord in the lord in the land

7:1And now I would that ye might know, that after my father, Lehi, had made an end of prophesying concerning his seed, it came to pass that the Lord spake unto him again, saying that it was not meet for him, Lehi, that he should take his family into the wilderness alone; but that his sons should take daughters to wife, that they might raise up seed unto the Lord in the land of promise.

9:51Again return into the land of jerusalem and bring

7:2And it came to pass that the Lord commanded him that I, Nephi, and my brethren, should again return unto the land of Jerusalem, and bring down Ishmael and his family into the wilderness.

9:53and it came to pass that i nephi did again with my

10:1Brethren go forth into the wilderness to go up to jerus

7:3And it came to pass that I, Nephi, did again, with my brethren, go forth into the wilderness to go up to Jerusalem.

10:2Alem and it came to pass <​t​> hat we went up unto the

10:3house of ishmael and we did gain favour in the sight of

10:4ishmael in so much that we did speak unto him the

7:4And it came to pass that we went up unto the house of Ishmael, and we did gain favor in the sight of Ishmael, insomuch that we did speak unto him the words of the Lord.

10:5Words of the lord and it came to pass that the lord did

10:6soften the hart of ishmael and also his <​hole​> hole insomuch

10:7that they took their journey with us down into the

7:5And it came to pass that the Lord did soften the heart of Ishmael, and also his household, insomuch that they took their journey with us down into the wilderness to the tent of our father.

10:8Wilderness to the tent of our father and it came to pass

10:9that as we journeed in the wilderness behold lamen &

10:10lemuel and two of the daugters of ishmael and the two sons

10:11of ishmael and their famales did rebel against us yea against

10:12i nephi and sam and their father ishmael and his

7:6And it came to pass that as we journeyed in the wilderness, behold Laman and Lemuel, and two of the daughters of Ishmael, and the two sons of Ishmael and their families, did rebel against us; yea, against me, Nephi, and Sam, and their father, Ishmael, and his wife, and his three other daughters.

10:13wife and his Wife and his three other daugters and it came

10:14to pass that in the which rebelion they ware desirus to <​return​>

7:7And it came to pass in the which rebellion, they were desirous to return unto the land of Jerusalem.

10:15unto the land of jerusalem and not <​now​> i nephi being

10:16grievd for the hardmess of their harts therefore i spake

10:17unto them saying yea <​even​> unto lamen and unto lemual

10:18behold thou art mine elder brethren and how is it that

10:19ye are so hard in your hearts and so blind in your mi

10:20nds that ye have nee <​d​> that i your younger brother should

10:21speak unto you yea & set an exampel for you how

7:8And now I, Nephi, being grieved for the hardness of their hearts, therefore I spake unto them, saying, yea, even unto Laman and unto Lemuel: Behold ye are mine elder brethren, and how is it that ye are so hard in your hearts, and so blind in your minds, that ye have need that I, your younger brother, should speak unto you, yea, and set an example for you?

10:22is it that ye have not herkened unto the word of the lord

7:9How is it that ye have not hearkened unto the word of the Lord?

10:23how is it that ye have forgotten that ye have seen an

7:10How is it that ye have forgotten that ye have seen an angel of the Lord?

10:24Angel of the lord yea and how is it how great things that

10:25ye have forgotten how great things the lord hath done

10:26for us in delivering us out of the hands of laban and

7:11Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten what great things the Lord hath done for us, in delivering us out of the hands of Laban, and also that we should obtain the record?

10:27Also that we should obtain the record yea and how is it that

10:28ye have forgotten that the lord is able to do all things accor

10:29ding to his will for the children of men if it so be that

10:30they exersise faith in him wherefor let him us be fai

7:12Yea, and how is it that ye have forgotten that the Lord is able to do all things according to his will, for the children of men, if it so be that they exercise faith in him? Wherefore, let us be faithful to him.

10:31thful in him & if it so be that we are faithful in him

10:32We shal obtain the land of promise and ye shal know

10:33at some futer peried that the word of the lord shal be

10:34fulfild conserning the destruction of jerusalem for all

10:35thing which the lord hath spoken conserning the destru

7:13And if it so be that we are faithful to him, we shall obtain the land of promise; and ye shall know at some future period that the word of the Lord shall be fulfilled concerning the destruction of Jerusalem; for all things which the Lord hath spoken concerning the destruction of Jerusalem must be fulfilled.

10:37it of the lord ceases soon to strive with them for behold

10:38they have rejected the prophets and jeremiah have they

10:39cast into prisen and they have saught to take away

10:40the life of my father in so much that they have

7:14For behold, the Spirit of the Lord ceaseth soon to strive with them; for behold, they have rejected the prophets, and Jeremiah have they cast into prison. And they have sought to take away the life of my father, insomuch that they have driven him out of the land.

10:41driven him out of the land now be hold i say unto

10:42you that if he <​ye​> will return unto jerusalem ye shall

10:43Also perrish with them and now if ye have choice go

10:44up to[t] he land and remember the words which i speak

10:45unto you that if ye go ye will also perrish for thus

10:46the spirit of the lord constraineth me that i should

7:15Now behold, I say unto you that if ye will return unto Jerusalem ye shall also perish with them. And now, if ye have choice, go up to the land, and remember the words which I speak unto you, that if ye go ye will also perish; for thus the Spirit of the Lord constraineth me that I should speak.

10:47[s] peak and it came to pass that <​when​> i nephi had spoken

10:48these words unto my brethren they ware angry with

10:49Me and it came to pass that they did lay their hands

10:50uppon me for behold they ware exceding wroth and

10:51they did bind me with cords for they sot <​saught​> to take away

10:52my life that they might leave me in the wilderness

7:16And it came to pass that when I, Nephi, had spoken these words unto my brethren, they were angry with me. And it came to pass that they did lay their hands upon me, for behold, they were exceedingly wroth, and they did bind me with cords, for they sought to take away my life, that they might leave me in the wilderness to be devoured by wild beasts.

10:53to be devoured by wild beasts but it came to pass

11:1that i praid unto the lord sayimg O lord according to my faith

11:2which is in me wilt thou deliver me from the hands of my br[e]

11:3thren yea even give me strength that i may burst these band[s]

7:17But it came to pass that I prayed unto the Lord, saying: O Lord, according to my faith which is in thee, wilt thou deliver me from the hands of my brethren; yea, even give me strength that I may burst these bands with which I am bound.

11:4with which i am boumd and it came to pass that When i

11:5had said these words behold the bands ware loosd from of[f] my <​hands and​> feeet

11:6And i stood before my brethren and i spake unto them agai[n]

7:18And it came to pass that when I had said these words, behold, the bands were loosed from off my hands and feet, and I stood before my brethren, and I spake unto them again.

11:7And it came to pass that they <​ware​> angry with we me again and

11:8and saught to lay hands uppon me but behold one of the

11:9daughters of ishmael yea & also her mother and one of the son[s]

11:10of ishmael did plead with my brethren insomuch that they

11:11did soften their hearts and they did cease striving to take

7:19And it came to pass that they were angry with me again, and sought to lay hands upon me; but behold, one of the daughters of Ishmael, yea, and also her mother, and one of the sons of Ishmael, did plead with my brethren, insomuch that they did soften their hearts; and they did cease striving to take away my life.

11:12Away my life and it came to pass that they ware sorraful bec

11:13aus of their wickedness insomuch that they did bow down

11:14before me & did plead with me that i would forgive

11:15them of the thing that they had done against and

7:20And it came to pass that they were sorrowful, because of their wickedness, insomuch that they did bow down before me, and did plead with me that I would forgive them of the thing that they had done against me.

11:16it came to pass that i did frankly forgive them all

11:17that they had done and i did exort them that they would

11:18pray unto the lord their god for forgivness and it came

11:19to pass that they did so and after that they had done pray

11:20ing unto the lor the we did again travel on our journey

7:21And it came to pass that I did frankly forgive them all that they had done, and I did exhort them that they would pray unto the Lord their God for forgiveness. And it came to pass that they did so. And after they had done praying unto the Lord we did again travel on our journey towards the tent of our father.

11:21toward the tent of our father and it came to pass that we did

11:22Come down unto the tent of our father and after that i

11:23And my brethren and all <​t​> he house of ishmael had com[e]

11:24dow[n] unto the tent of my father they did give thanks

11:25unto the lord their god and they did give <​offer​> thanks <​sacrifice​> and of

7:22And it came to pass that we did come down unto the tent of our father. And after I and my brethren and all the house of Ishmael had come down unto the tent of my father, they did give thanks unto the Lord their God; and they did offer sacrifice and burnt offerings unto him.

11:26fer burnt ofrings unto him and it came to pass that we ha[d]

11:27getherd to geather all manner of seeds of every king[kind] both

11:28of grain of every kind and also of the seeds of fruits of

8:1And it came to pass that we had gathered together all manner of seeds of every kind, both of grain of every kind, and also of the seeds of fruit of every kind.

11:29every king[kind] and it came to pass that while my father

11:30tarried in the wilderness he spake unto us saying

11:31be hold i have dreamd a dream or in other words i

8:2And it came to pass that while my father tarried in the wilderness he spake unto us, saying: Behold, I have dreamed a dream; or, in other words, I have seen a vision.

11:32have seen a vission and behold becaus of the thing

11:33which I have seen i have reason to rejoiice in the

11:34lor <​d​> because of nephi and also of sam for i have reaso[n]

11:35to suppose that they and also meny of them <​their​> seed will

8:3And behold, because of the thing which I have seen, I have reason to rejoice in the Lord because of Nephi and also of Sam; for I have reason to suppose that they, and also many of their seed, will be saved.

11:36be saved but behold Laman & lemual i fear exedi[n]

11:37gly becaus of you for behold me thot <​thaught​> <​i​> saw a dark

8:4But behold, Laman and Lemuel, I fear exceedingly because of you; for behold, methought I saw in my dream, a dark and dreary wilderness.

11:38And drery wilderness and it came to pass that i saw a

11:39Man and he was drest in a white robe and he came and

8:5And it came to pass that I saw a man, and he was dressed in a white robe; and he came and stood before me.

11:40stood before me and it came to pass that he spake unto

8:6And it came to pass that he spake unto me, and bade me follow him.

11:41me and bade me follow him and it came to pass that

11:42As i followed him and after i had followed him i be

11:43held myself that i was in a dark and dreary waste

8:7And it came to pass that as I followed him I beheld myself that I was in a dark and dreary waste.

11:44and after that i had traveled for the space <​of​> for men

11:45ny hours in darkness i began to pray unto the

11:46lord that he would have mercy on me according

8:8And after I had traveled for the space of many hours in darkness, I began to pray unto the Lord that he would have mercy on me, according to the multitude of his tender mercies.

11:47to the multitude of his tender mercies and it came to

11:48pass that I after i had praid unto the lord <​i​> beheld

8:9And it came to pass after I had prayed unto the Lord I beheld a large and spacious field.

11:49A large and spacious field & it came to pass that i beh

11:50eld a tree whose fruit was desirable to make one

8:10And it came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy.

11:51happy and it came to pass that i did go forth and

11:52partook of the fruit thereof and beheld that it was

11:53Most sweet above all that i ever had before

12:1tasted yea and i beheld that the fruiit thereof was white

8:11And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.

12:2to exceed all the whiteness that i had ever seen and as

12:3i partook of the fruit thereof it fild my soul with exe

12:4ding great joy wherefore i began to be desirus that my <​family​> fanily

12:5should partake of it also for i knew that it was desirus

8:12And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit.

12:6Above all other fruit and as i cast my eyes around abo

12:7ut that perhaps i might discover my fammaly also

12:8And i beheld a river of water and it ran along and it wa

12:9s near the tree of which i was partaking the fruit and i

8:13And as I cast my eyes round about, that perhaps I might discover my family also, I beheld a river of water; and it ran along, and it was near the tree of which I was partaking the fruit.

12:10loocked to behold from whence it came and i saw the

12:11head thereof a little way of[f] and at the head thereof i

12:12beheld your Mother sariah and Sam and nephi and they

12:13stood as if they knew not whither they should go and

8:14And I looked to behold from whence it came; and I saw the head thereof a little way off; and at the head thereof I beheld your mother Sariah, and Sam, and Nephi; and they stood as if they knew not whither they should go.

12:14it came to pass that i beckoned unto them and i also

12:15did say unto them with a loud voice that they should

12:16come unto me and partake of the fruite which was

8:15And it came to pass that I beckoned unto them; and I also did say unto them with a loud voice that they should come unto me, and partake of the fruit, which was desirable above all other fruit.

12:17desirable above all other fruit and it came to pass th

12:18at they did come unto me and partake of the fruit

8:16And it came to pass that they did come unto me and partake of the fruit also.

12:19Also and it came to pass that i was desirus that laman

12:20And lemual should come and partake of the fruit also

12:21Wherefor <​e​> i cast mine eyes toward the head of the river

8:17And it came to pass that I was desirous that Laman and Lemuel should come and partake of the fruit also; wherefore, I cast mine eyes towards the head of the river, that perhaps I might see them.

12:22that perhaps i might see them and it came to pass

12:23that i saw them but they would not come unto

8:18And it came to pass that I saw them, but they would not come unto me and partake of the fruit.

12:24Me and partake of the fruit and i beheld a rod of

12:25iron and it extended along the bank of the river

8:19And I beheld a rod of iron, and it extended along the bank of the river, and led to the tree by which I stood.

12:26And led to the tree by which i stood and i also beh

12:27eld a Strait and narrough path which came along

12:28by the rod of iron even to the tree by which i stood

12:29and it also led by the head of the fountain unto a

12:30large and specious field as if it had ben a world

8:20And I also beheld a strait and narrow path, which came along by the rod of iron, even to the tree by which I stood; and it also led by the head of the fountain, unto a large and spacious field, as if it had been a world.

12:31And i saw numberless concorses of people many of

12:32home[whom] are presing forward that they might obtain

12:33the path which led unto the tree by which i stood

8:21And I saw numberless concourses of people, many of whom were pressing forward, that they might obtain the path which led unto the tree by which I stood.

12:34and it came to pass that they did come forth and com

8:22And it came to pass that they did come forth, and commence in the path which led to the tree.

12:35mensed in the path which led to the tree and it came

12:36to pass that there arose a mist of darkness yea an

12:37even an exceding great mist of darkness insomuch

12:38that they which had commeced in the path did loose

8:23And it came to pass that there arose a mist of darkness; yea, even an exceedingly great mist of darkness, insomuch that they who had commenced in the path did lose their way, that they wandered off and were lost.

12:39their way that they d wanderd of[f] and ware lost and it

12:40came to pass that i beheld others pressing forward

12:41And they came forth and caught hold of the end of the

12:42rod of iron and they did press forward through the m

12:43ists of darkness clinging to the rod of iron even until

12:44they did come forth and partook of the fruit of the

8:24And it came to pass that I beheld others pressing forward, and they came forth and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press forward through the mist of darkness, clinging to the rod of iron, even until they did come forth and partake of the fruit of the tree.

12:45tree and after that they h had partook of the fruit

12:46Of the tree they did cast theyr eyes about as if they

8:25And after they had partaken of the fruit of the tree they did cast their eyes about as if they were ashamed.

12:47ware a shamed and i also cast my eyes around a bout

12:48and beheld on the other side of the river of water of

12:49water of water a great and spesious[spacious] bilding and it

8:26And I also cast my eyes round about, and beheld, on the other side of the river of water, a great and spacious building; and it stood as it were in the air, high above the earth.

12:50stood as it ware in the are high above the earth and it

12:51was filled with people both old and young both ma

12:52le and female and their manner of dress was exce

12:53ding fine and they ware in the attitude of mocking and

13:1pointing their fingers towards those which had came up

8:27And it was filled with people, both old and young, both male and female; and their manner of dress was exceedingly fine; and they were in the attitude of mocking and pointing their fingers towards those who had come at and were partaking of the fruit.

13:2and ware partaking of the fruit and after that theey had tasted

13:3of the fruit they ware ashamed because of those that ware

13:4A scoffing at them and they fell away into forbidden

8:28And after they had tasted of the fruit they were ashamed, because of those that were scoffing at them; and they fell away into forbidden paths and were lost.

13:5paths and ware lost & now i nephi do not speak all

8:29And now I, Nephi, do not speak all the words of my father.

13:6the words of my father but to be short in writing be

13:7hold he saw other multitudes pressing forwards and

13:8they came amd caught hold of the end of the rod of

13:9iron and they did press their way forward continua

13:10ly holding fast to the rod of iron until they came

13:11forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the

8:30But, to be short in writing, behold, he saw other multitudes pressing forward; and they came and caught hold of the end of the rod of iron; and they did press their way forward, continually holding fast to the rod of iron, until they came forth and fell down and partook of the fruit of the tree.

13:12tree and he also saw other multitudes prssing their

13:13way towards that great and specious bilding and

8:31And he also saw other multitudes feeling their way towards that great and spacious building.

13:14it came to pass that menny were drownd in the d

13:15dep[t] h of the fountain & many ware lost from

13:16My view his wiew wandring in strang roads and

8:32And it came to pass that many were drowned in the depths of the fountain; and many were lost from his view, wandering in strange roads.

13:17great was the multitude that did enter into that str

13:18ange building and after that they did enter into

13:19that building they did point the finger of scorn

13:20at me and those that ware partaking of the fruit al

8:33And great was the multitude that did enter into that strange building. And after they did enter into that building they did point the finger of scorn at me and those that were partaking of the fruit also; but we heeded them not.

13:21so but we heded them not thus is the words of my fat

13:22her for as many as heded them had to fall in their

8:34These are the words of my father: For as many as heeded them, had fallen away.

13:23fallen away and lamen and lemual partook not of

8:35And Laman and Lemuel partook not of the fruit, said my father.

13:24the fruit Saith my father and it came to pass that aft

13:25er my father had spoken all the words of his drea

13:26m or vission which ware many he said unto us becau

13:27s of these things which he saw in a vission he exc

13:28edingly feard for laman & lemual ye[a] he feard lest

13:29they should be cast of[f] from the pressance of the

8:36And it came to pass after my father had spoken all the words of his dream or vision, which were many, he said unto us, because of these things which he saw in a vision, he exceedingly feared for Laman and Lemuel; yea, he feared lest they should be cast off from the presence of the Lord.

13:30lord and he did exort them then with all the feeling

13:31of a tender parent that they would herken to his

13:32words in that perhaps the lord would be mersyfull

13:33to them and notcast them of[f] yea my father did

8:37And he did exhort them then with all the feeling of a tender parent, that they would hearken to his words, that perhaps the Lord would be merciful to them, and not cast them off; yea, my father did preach unto them.

13:34preach unto them and after that he had preacht

13:35unto them and also prophesed unto them of many

13:36thing <​s​> he bade them to keep the commandments

13:37of the lord and he did seace speaking unto them

8:38And after he had preached unto them, and also prophesied unto them of many things, he bade them to keep the commandments of the Lord; and he did cease speaking unto them.

13:38and all these things did my father see and hear an <​d​> sp

13:39eak as he dwelt in a tent in the vally of lemuel and also

13:40A great menny more things which can not be written

9:1And all these things did my father see, and hear, and speak, as he dwelt in a tent, in the valley of Lemuel, and also a great many more things, which cannot be written upon these plates.

13:41uppon these plates and now as i have spoken conser

13:42ning these plates behold they are not the plates uppo

13:43n which i make a fill <​full​> account of the history of my

13:44people for the plates uppon which i make a full

13:45account of my people i have given the name of ne

13:46phi f wherefor they are cald the plates of nephi after

13:47Mine own name and these plates also are cald the

9:2And now, as I have spoken concerning these plates, behold they are not the plates upon which I make a full account of the history of my people; for the plates upon which I make a full account of my people I have given the name of Nephi; wherefore, they are called the plates of Nephi, after mine own name; and these plates also are called the plates of Nephi.

9:3Nevertheless, I have received a commandment of the Lord that I should make these plates, for the special purpose that there should be an account engraven of the ministry of my people.

14:1My people wherefor these plates are for the more part of

14:2the ministry and the other plates are for the more part of the

14:3Reigns of the kings & the war <​s​> and contentions of my people

9:4Upon the other plates should be engraven an account of the reign of the kings, and the wars and contentions of my people; wherefore these plates are for the more part of the ministry; and the other plates are for the more part of the reign of the kings and the wars and contentions of my people.

14:4wherefore the lord hath commanded me to make these

14:5plates for a wise purpos in him which purpos i know

9:5Wherefore, the Lord hath commanded me to make these plates for a wise purpose in him, which purpose I know not.

14:6Not but the lord noweth all things from the beginning

14:7wherefor he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works

14:8Among the children of men for behold he hath all power

14:9unto the fulfilling of all his words and this <​thus​> it is amen

9:6But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all his words. And thus it is. Amen.
