0:1An account of the death of Lehi. Nephis brethren rebel against him. The Lord warns Nephi to depart into the wilderness. His journeyings in the wilderness, and so forth.

46:15wilderness& C his journyings in the wilderness& CAnd now it came

46:16to pass after Nephi had made an end of teaching my brethren our father Lehi

46:17also spake many things unto them & rehearsed unto them how great things the

1:1And now it came to pass that after I, Nephi, had made an end of teaching my brethren, our father, Lehi, also spake many things unto them, and rehearsed unto them, how great things the Lord had done for them in bringing them out of the land of Jerusalem.

46:18Lord had done for them in bringing them out of the land of Jerusalem & he spake

46:19unto them concerning their rebellions upon the waters & the mercies of God in

1:2And he spake unto them concerning their rebellions upon the waters, and the mercies of God in sparing their lives, that they were not swallowed up in the sea.

46:20spareing their lives that they were not swallowed up in the sea & he also sp[a]

46:21ke unto them concerning the land of promise which they had obtained how m[er]

46:22ciful the Lord had been in warning us that we should flee out of the land

1:3And he also spake unto them concerning the land of promise, which they had obtainedhow merciful the Lord had been in warning us that we should flee out of the land of Jerusalem.

46:23of Jerusalem for behold saith he I have seen a vision in the which I know that

46:24Jerusalem is destroid & had we remained in Jerusalem we should also have per

1:4For, behold, said he, I have seen a vision, in which I know that Jerusalem is destroyed; and had we remained in Jerusalem we should also have perished.

46:25ished but said he notwithstanding our afflictions we have obtained a

46:26land of pronise a land which is choice above all other lands a land which

46:27the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheratance

46:28of my seed yea the Lord hath concecrated this land unto me & to my chi[l]

46:29dren forever & also all they which should be lead out of other countries by the

1:5But, said he, notwithstanding our afflictions, we have obtained a land of promise, a land which is choice above all other lands; a land which the Lord God hath covenanted with me should be a land for the inheritance of my seed. Yea, the Lord hath covenanted this land unto me, and to my children forever, and also all those who should be led out of other countries by the hand of the Lord.

46:30hand of the Lord wherefore I Lehi prophesy according to the workings of the

46:31spirit which is in me that there shall be none come into this land save they

1:6Wherefore, I, Lehi, prophesy according to the workings of the Spirit which is in me, that there shall none come into this land save they shall be brought by the hand of the Lord.

46:32should be brought by the hand of the Lord wherefore this land is consecrated u[n]

46:33to him whom he shall bring & if it so be that they shall serve him according[to]

46:34the Commandments which he hath given it shall be a land of liberty un

46:35to them wherefore they shall never be brought down into captivity if[so i] t

46:36[s] h[a] ll be because of iniquity for if iniquity shall abound cursed[s] h[all b] e

46:37[t] he land[for thei] r sakes but unto the righteous it[s] h[a] ll be blessed forever

1:7Wherefore, this land is consecrated unto him whom he shall bring. And if it so be that they shall serve him according to the commandments which he hath given, it shall be a land of liberty unto them; wherefore, they shall never be brought down into captivity; if so, it shall be because of iniquity; for if iniquity shall abound cursed shall be the land for their sakes, but unto the righteous it shall be blessed forever.

1:8And behold, it is wisdom that this land should be kept as yet from the knowledge of other nations; for behold, many nations would overrun the land, that there would be no place for an inheritance.

47:1[&b] ehold it is wisdom t[hat this] land should be kept as yet from[thekn] owledge of other Nations for behold many Nations would overrun this l[andt] hat there would be no place for an inheritance wherefore I Lehi have obta

47:2ined a promise that inasmuch ass they which the Lord God shall bring out of

47:3the land of Jerusalem shall keep his comnandments they shall prosper up[on] t[he]

47:4face of this land & they shall be cept[[kept]] from all other Nations that they may pos[sess]

47:5this land unto themselves & if it so be that they shall keep his his command

47:6[m] ents they shall be blessed upon the face of the <​this​> land & their shall be none to

47:7molest them nor to take away the land of their inheritance & they shall

1:9Wherefore, I, Lehi, have obtained a promise, that inasmuch as those whom the Lord God shall bring out of the land of Jerusalem shall keep his commandments, they shall prosper upon the face of this land; and they shall be kept from all other nations, that they may possess this land unto themselves. And if it so be that they shall keep his commandments they shall be blessed upon the face of this land, and there shall be none to molest them, nor to take away the land of their inheritance; and they shall dwell safely forever.

47:8dwell safely forever but behold when the tine cometh that they shall

47:9dwindle in unbelief they after that they have received so great blessings

47:10from the hand of the Lord haveing a knowledge of the Creation of the earth & all

47:11men knowing the great & marvelous works of the Lord from the Creation of the

47:12world haveing power given them to do all things by faith haveing all the com

47:13[m] andments from the beginning & haveing been brought by his infinite good

47:14ness into this precious land of promise behold I say if the day shall come

47:15that they will reject the holy one of Israel the true messiah their redeemer

47:16[&]their God behold the judgments of him that is just shall rest upon them

1:10But behold, when the time cometh that they shall dwindle in unbelief, after they have received so great blessings from the hand of the Lordhaving a knowledge of the creation of the earth, and all men, knowing the great and marvelous works of the Lord from the creation of the world; having power given them to do all things by faith; having all the commandments from the beginning, and having been brought by his infinite goodness into this precious land of promisebehold, I say, if the day shall come that they will reject the Holy One of Israel, the true Messiah, their Redeemer and their God, behold, the judgments of him that is just shall rest upon them.

47:17[y] ea he will bring other Nations unto them & he will give unto them power & he will

47:18[t] ake away from them the lands of their possessions & he will cause them be <​to​> <​too​>

1:11Yea, he will bring other nations unto them, and he will give unto them power, and he will take away from them the lands of their possessions, and he will cause them to be scattered and smitten.

47:19<​be​> scattered & smitten yea as one Generation passeth to an other there shall be

47:20[b] loodsheds & great visitations among them wherefore my Sons I would

47:21[tha] t ye would remember yea I would that ye would hearken unto my words

1:12Yea, as one generation passeth to another there shall be bloodsheds, and great visitations among them; wherefore, my sons, I would that ye would remember; yea, I would that ye would hearken unto my words.

47:22[O] that ye would awake awake from a deep sleep yea even from the sleep of hell

47:23[&s] hake off the awful chanes by which ye are bound which are the Chanes whi

47:24[ch] bind the children of men that they are carried away captive down to the

1:13O that ye would awake; awake from a deep sleep, yea, even from the sleep of hell, and shake off the awful chains by which ye are bound, which are the chains which bind the children of men, that they are carried away captive down to the eternal gulf of misery and woe.

47:25[ete] rnal gulf of miseary & woe awake & arise from the dust & hear the wo

47:26[rds] of a trembleing of <​pernt​> parent whose limbs ye must soon lay down in t[heco] ld & silent grave from whence no traveller can returm a few more days

1:14Awake! and arise from the dust, and hear the words of a trembling parent, whose limbs ye must soon lay down in the cold and silent grave, from whence no traveler can return; a few more days and I go the way of all the earth.

47:27[&]I go the way of all the earth but behold the Lord hath redeemed my sou

47:28[l] from hell I have beheld his glory & I am encerceled about eternally in the

1:15But behold, the Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love.

47:29[ar] ms of his love & I desire that ye should remember to observe the statutes

47:30& the judgments of the Lord behold this hath been the anxciety of my soul from

1:16And I desire that ye should remember to observe the statutes and the judgments of the Lord; behold, this hath been the anxiety of my soul from the beginning.

47:31[th] e beginning my heart hath been weyed dow[n] with sorrow from time to time

47:32f[o] r I have feared least for the heardness of you <​r​> hearts least the Lord your God should

47:33c[o] me[o] ut in the fullness of his wrath upon you that ye be cut off & destroid forever

1:17My heart hath been weighed down with sorrow from time to time, for I have feared, lest for the hardness of your hearts the Lord your God should come out in the fulness of his wrath upon you, that ye be cut off and destroyed forever;

47:34[or that a curs] eing should come upon you for the space of many generations

47:35[&ye are visi] t[e] d b[y swor] d [&]b[y] f[amine &] hated & are lead according to

1:18Or, that a cursing should come upon you for the space of many generations; and ye are visited by sword, and by famine, and are hated, and are led according to the will and captivity of the devil.

47:36[the will & captivity of the devil O my Sons t] hat these thing[s] might not

48:1[come] upon you but that ye might[be a choice] & a favored people[of]

48:2the Lord but but behold his will be done for his ways are righteou[sness]

1:19O my sons, that these things might not come upon you, but that ye might be a choice and a favored people of the Lord. But behold, his will be done; for his ways are righteousness forever.

48:3forever & he hath said that in so <​as​> much as ye shall keep my commandments y[e]

1:20And he hath said that: Inasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; but inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence.

48:4shall prosper in the land but in as much as ye will not <​keep his commandments​> ye shall be cut of[ffrom] his presance & now that my Soul might have joy in you & that my hear[tmi] ght leave this world with gladness because of you that I might not

48:5be brought down with grief & sorrow to the grave arise from the dust my

48:6Sons & be men & to <​be​> determined in one mind & in one heart united in

1:21And now that my soul might have joy in you, and that my heart might leave this world with gladness because of you, that I might not be brought down with grief and sorrow to the grave, arise from the dust, my sons, and be men, and be determined in one mind and in one heart, united in all things, that ye may not come down into captivity;

48:7all things that ye may not come down into captivity that ye may

48:8not be cursed with a sore cursing & also that ye may not incur the disple

48:9asure of a just God upon you unto the destruction yea the eternal destru

1:22That ye may not be cursed with a sore cursing; and also, that ye may not incur the displeasure of a just God upon you, unto the destruction, yea, the eternal destruction of both soul and body.

48:10ction of both Soul & boddy awake my Sons put on the armour of righteous

48:11ness shake off the Chanes which ye are bound & come forth out of obscurity

1:23Awake, my sons; put on the armor of righteousness. Shake off the chains with which ye are bound, and come forth out of obscurity, and arise from the dust.

48:12& arise from the dust rebell no more against your Brother whose view[s]

48:13have been glorious & who hath cept the commandments from the time we

48:14left Jerusalem & w[ho] hath been an instrument in the hands of God in

48:15bringing us forth into the land of promise for were it not for him we m

48:16ust have perished with hunger in the wilderness nevertheless ye sought

48:17to take away his life yea & he hath suffered much sorrow because of you

1:24Rebel no more against your brother, whose views have been glorious, and who hath kept the commandments from the time that we left Jerusalem; and who hath been an instrument in the hands of God, in bringing us forth into the land of promise; for were it not for him, we must have perished with hunger in the wilderness; nevertheless, ye sought to take away his life; yea, and he hath suffered much sorrow because of you.

48:18& I excedingly fear & tremble because of you least he shall suffer again fo[r]

48:19behold ye have accused him that he sought power & authority over you bu[t]

48:20I know that he hath not sought for pow[er] nor authority over you but he hat[h]

1:25And I exceedingly fear and tremble because of you, lest he shall suffer again; for behold, ye have accused him that he sought power and authority over you; but I know that he hath not sought for power nor authority over you, but he hath sought the glory of God, and your own eternal welfare.

48:21sought the Glory of God & you <​r​> own eternal wellfare & ye have murm[ured be]

48:22cause he hath been plain unto you[ye s] ay[t] hat[he hath us] ed[sharp] ness[ye]

48:23say that he hath been angery with you but behold his sharpness[was] the

48:24sharpness of the power of the word of God which was in him & that which

48:25ye call anger was the truth according to that which is in God which he

48:26could not constrain manifesting boldly concerning your iniqu[i] ties [&]

1:26And ye have murmured because he hath been plain unto you. Ye say that he hath used sharpness; ye say that he hath been angry with you; but behold, his sharpness was the sharpness of the power of the word of God, which was in him; and that which ye call anger was the truth, according to that which is in God, which he could not restrain, manifesting boldly concerning your iniquities.

48:27it must neads be that the power of God must be with him even un[to]

48:28his commanding you that ye must obey but behold it was not him

48:29but is it was the spirit of the Lord which was in him which opened h[is]

1:27And it must needs be that the power of God must be with him, even unto his commanding you that ye must obey. But behold, it was not he, but it was the Spirit of the Lord which was in him, which opened his mouth to utterance that he could not shut it.

48:30mouth to utterance that he could not shut & now my Son Laman &

48:31also Lemuel & Sam & also my Sons which are the S[o] ns of Ishmael

48:32behold if ye will hearken unto the word <​voice​> voice of Nephi ye shall not

48:33perish & if ye will hearken unto him I leave unto you a blessing yea

1:28And now my son, Laman, and also Lemuel and Sam, and also my sons who are the sons of Ishmael, behold, if ye will hearken unto the voice of Nephi ye shall not perish. And if ye will hearken unto him I leave unto you a blessing, yea, even my first blessing.

48:34even my first blessing but if ye will not hearken unto him I tak[e]

48:35away my first blessing yea even my blessing & it[s] h[a] ll[rest upon]

1:29But if ye will not hearken unto him I take away my first blessing, yea, even my blessing, and it shall rest upon him.

48:36him & now Zoram I sp[eak unto] you behold thou art[the servanto] f Laban n[eve] rtheless thou[hast been brought out of the]

1:30And now, Zoram, I speak unto you: Behold, thou art the servant of Laban; nevertheless, thou hast been brought out of the land of Jerusalem, and I know that thou art a true friend unto my son, Nephi, forever.
